Main features of the mod:

Game difficulties replaced with different game styles starting from a classic Deus Ex and ending with a classic hardcore first-person shooter. These game styles have different settings for the player, AI, inventory, augmentations, skills, HUD, music, etc. The most noticeable changes were made in so-called “Unrealistic” game style which features a brand new HUD, weapon selection method (very similar to one used in Half-Life), ability to carry every weapon and equipment at once, the llack of classic augmentations, skills and armors and the presence of the most advanced AI.

New Multiplayer for Deus Ex with bots. The mod features a completely overhauled multiplayer. With this new multiplayer you can play online matches again players and bots and offline matches with bots. The following games are available: DM, TDM, KTL and LMS. The KTL game (Kill the Leader) features unique game type which partially based on CTF game, but has different objectives and game tactics. While the new multiplayer has a moderate UT feeling it still has a strong Deus Ex feeling: you play DM games against bots which looks like and named like the characters from the singleplayer game and they’re use “taunts” you’ve heard in the singleplayer game. The first version of the mod shipped with 4 multiplayer maps and now the mod includes about 25 maps (most of them were made by Veronika).

Weapons. A good first-person shooter is nothing without cool and deadly weaponry. And in this field the mod features a complete overhaul of the default weapons used in game. All weapons have alternative firing mod which is partially based on the “Altfire” mod released in the beginning of 2002. Several weapons has unique features such as: real semi-automatic fire; alternative ammunition for the alternative firing mode; ability to throw the Dragoon’s Tooth sword as a kind of Jedi’s light saber; the ability of switching between automatic, burst and semi-automatic firing modes; use the prod as an energy shield; rail guns which can shoot through the walls; fire napalm canisters with the flamethrower; submachine gun with under-barrel shotgun and so on. The mod also features so-called mounted machineguns you can find nearly in all FPS games.

Augmentations were also heavily reworked and the majority of them drain energy only when actually used. Moreover the mod features unique augmentations such as Levitation, Hologram System, Teleporting, Telekinesis, Slow Time, Equipment Recharger and Electricity Attack System.

AI was also heavily modified to keep the balance with the improved weaponry. The modified AI has faster reactions, can use the alternative firing mod and uses it smartly, some of the characters can communicate and call for help, retreat, take cover, calculate the relative strength of the actual enemy. Some of the enemies can avoid aiming, projectiles and can track with the GEP Gun. There are also about 10 types of NPCs. On every map there are a lot of new enemies and allies spawned and nearly all NPC has a randomized inventory so you will never know what they have. So be prepared for surprises, new boss fights, ambushes, etc. Also be prepared to get new friends in a form of a controllable cyborg dogs and spider bots.

Pickups. Most of the armors work like classic rechargeable armors now and other pickups were also reworked to improve their usability (can be turned on and off) .

A lot of small but useful changes and fixes such as: automatic weapon and item pickup like in classic FPS games (can be turned off); automatic recharges with bioelectric cells; ability to scramble turrets with scramble grenade; double air jumping; the ability to use the key ring as a weapon and so on…

The mod ships with installer and a very detailed documentation which covers nearly every new features and other aspects of the game.

Somewhere out in the suburbs, an cubicle full of nonsense sits unnoticed, unmolested. Rich has taken the day off. At a different office, somewhere else, Peter Kent is embroiled in an over-caffeinated, lightning-paced, perfectly normal day at work. It’s good then, that Rich has arranged for “the house.” A relaxing, semi-permanent party headquarters to be used all summer by the two of them, their boozy crew of half-wit friends, and anyone who follows the trail of noise to their doorstep. Unfortunately, a bit of confusion has left the boys with all house and no supplies.

So is it possible to have a good time, the kind of good time to which Rich and Peter are accustomed, without any preparation at all? The answer, as it turns out, is no. We’ll still need beer. Definitely. Right? And some other stuff. And so with no money, no patience, and a lunch hour long since spent, can Peter secure the supplies necessary to fend off the fearsome hurricane of boredom which threatens this warm, warm weekend?

Overview;

You take on the role of Peter Kent: gallant gamer, put-upon party-goer, ersatz errand boy, suburban swashbuckler.
Navigate a middle-class morass of whiny girlfriends, surly cops, slippery coworkers, surly bartenders, surly bosses, and more.
Your mission: procure an ever-growing list of supplies to ensure an appropriately inappropriate weekend of drinking, revelry, and what have you.

Features;

* All new, entirely original script (over 12,000 words)
* 18 new characters, 6 new levels, new sounds, models, textures and more, plus clever re-use of existing Deus Ex stuff (or “assets”)
* A non-dark-and-dystopian vision of the future
* Awesome, old-schooly music brings luscious memories of past gaming goodness back into the now
* Robots
* Multiple solutions to problems and a world responsive to your choices, in the true spirit of Deus Ex

The Cassandra Project was never fully finished however the latest work in progress was released way back in 2002, this was a short “demo” of sorts. Despite it’s short length it’s still well worth checking out. The Cassandra Project features very well executed voice acting, and is nicely presented with cut scenes and decent level design which has plenty of clever tricks and hidden areas.

You take the role of Charlotte Williams, who is a strong minded woman who is not afraid to speak her mind. You will have several conversations in this demo and will meet some very interesting characters, each with their own style and personality. You will acquire several custom made weapons and while the opening scenes are mostly exploration and conversations the game soon heats up and throws several enemies at you.

The Arena (Reloaded) mod was made by Hardcore DX Developers, and released in October of 2002. The mod is for use with multiplayer and adds bots to an online server, these bots act similar to human players and they also can use several augmentations, the mod also includes some singleplayer content. Arena (Reloaded) features several new weapons, newly modified augmentations, adds equipment shops and makes similar small but useful changes and comes with 5 multiplayer maps and 12 mutators. After the first release the mod was abandoned and the best features migrated to another Hardcore DX Developer production called Hardcore DX. So basically Arena is just a kind of alpha preview of the first versions of the Hardcore DX mod, but it’s quite stable, playable and funny and includes several features that were not included to Hardcore DX. This version is identical with the version released in 2002, but features an easier way of installation and a slightly updated documentation.

profile

Hotel Carone is a short single player Deus Ex mod that has you thrust back into UNATCO ranks. The mod is only a single mission, however in spite of this it features four playable maps and boasts a lot of depth and should provide around two solid hours of gameplay. The single mission has you using your brain more often then not to figure out the best approach to tackle the objectives  (such was the way in Deus Ex) and simply going in guns blazing will usually not be the best approach.

The level design allows for non linear play – the player can choose many different paths which provide different conclusions for instance, also the order of completing these objectives is not important (some objectives can even be failed, and you can still complete the scenario). Hotel Carone rewards the stealthy approach although it’s not strictly necessary, however playing through aggressively will still require some level of thought process.

Deus Ex is, by many standards, considered an old game. It has been played and memorized by many dedicated fans. Games with storylines so well developed and intriguing are few and far between. But Deus Ex, in all of its archaic nature, still sits at the top with little competition in terms of plot.

The Chronos Project’s Development, quite simply, aims to revive, restyle, and renew the game’s appeal. Upon starting Chronos, a whole new wintery theme, all new textures for characters and items, as well as reworked maps and new elements, inclusive of a bullet time augmentation that is already functional, will recharge the interest of old dedicated fans as well as the new.

They will see new developments in storyline as well as gameplay, all sprinkled with heavy aesthetic alterations. And all of it capable of being finished in a timely manner, as it already has a sturdy base to stand on. The original game, Deus Ex.

The latest Phase I release features new skins for major NPC’s and for the player, two revised maps, a new intro, altered weaponry and altered player properties.
