DXMP_ALTFIGHTER is a fight map made by 666, in February 2011, that is primarily designed to work in low gravity servers. This map features a large circular structure which has two floors that run the perimeter of the structure. The large open central area can be accessed at various points throughout both floors. Being out in the open makes the player vulnerable to fire and it’s best to stick to the perimeter walkways as much as possible.

A small map that takes place in an enclosed cavern or cave.  The map features the very experimental floor lofter tool in heavy use which shows in the “spikey” brushes that cover the floor,  sides and “ceiling” of the map. DXMP_Cavern has four spawn areas, eight weapon boards, water filled pits that contain a grenade each and a hole in the wall can be seen with daylight pouring through.

A pit filled with water, meanwhile a spawn can be seen in the background.

These maps have alot of non essential actors and brushes removed in order to improve frames per second (FPS) and run smoother, the map file sizes have been reduced anywhere between 10 and 30 percent. The edits are quite subtle and the maps maintain their atmosphere and feel. These maps are both suitable for 0 Augs and Augged gameplay.

Deus Ex is, by many standards, considered an old game. It has been played and memorized by many dedicated fans. Games with storylines so well developed and intriguing are few and far between. But Deus Ex, in all of its archaic nature, still sits at the top with little competition in terms of plot.

The Chronos Project’s Development, quite simply, aims to revive, restyle, and renew the game’s appeal. Upon starting Chronos, a whole new wintery theme, all new textures for characters and items, as well as reworked maps and new elements, inclusive of a bullet time augmentation that is already functional, will recharge the interest of old dedicated fans as well as the new.

They will see new developments in storyline as well as gameplay, all sprinkled with heavy aesthetic alterations. And all of it capable of being finished in a timely manner, as it already has a sturdy base to stand on. The original game, Deus Ex.

The latest Phase I release features new skins for major NPC’s and for the player, two revised maps, a new intro, altered weaponry and altered player properties.

Deus Ex Backstory

The Illuminati was founded by a man named Adam Weishaupt, this was at the time of the American Revolution. The Illuminati was a mystical secret society dedicated to ones spiritual perfection and the undercover domination of all civilized organisations (to the Illuminati, the connection between the two was logical). Illuminati means “the illuminated ones,” or, those with ability to see where others are seemingly blind.

For the next two and a half hundred years the Illuminati had the power over the world that they desired, so much so they began playing with it. A small council of five individuals led the Illuminati and the incredibly rich and wealthy banks created by the Knights Templar during the Crusades financed them.

The Illuminati controlled who won elections and revolutions, they decided which fashions and fads would catch on and when they would fade out. They dictated the “self-evident moral values” of many different places and cultures, they even started wars and destroyed countries.

Fast forward to the year 1947, a Unidentified Flying Object (UFO) was reported to have crashed, in an intact state at Roswell, New Mexico. Sources reported that the United States military had claimed ownership of this supposed craft and with it five occupants. The President of the United States commissioned a blue-ribbon panel, that went by the code name Majestic 12 (MJ12), the goal of this panel was to study the alien artifacts. The Illuminati included their own high-ranking members into MJ12, shortly thereafter, under Illuminati pressure, the United States government became tight lipped regarding anything related to the Roswell incident, and then started a decades-long policy of official denial of any UFO activity.

There are people who believe that the Roswell incident surprised the Illuminati, others have suggested that the whole thing was an Illuminati hoax designed to cover the creation of MJ12. Either way, the end product was that MJ12 became a part of the Illuminati power structure, dedicated to researching and exploiting post-atomic technology. Because of MJ12 discoveries (painstakingly leaked to mainstream science), cybertechnology, then nanotechnology, became the focus of scientific research.

Not everything was going to plan for the Illuminati, however. In the twenty-first century, their control began to fade out. Plague, disasters, and the dissolution of the middle class weakened the Illuminati’s once tight grip on society. Most devastating of all was the rise of the global information net, which allowed people to communicate and exchange knowledge freely and without Illuminati interference. The most determined Illuminati efforts—like the Echelon project designed to monitor all net traffic—met with limited success at best.

Meet Bob Page, the richest man in the world, current chief of the Majestic 12 project, and member of the Illuminati’s ruling five. Page was a visionary, the chaotic and confused world that the conspiracy had allowed to evolve disgusted him greatly. Page had enough of playing around with semi-passive control of human society, It was time for one man to rise up and rule the world. However, he would have to be a god to achieve this perfectly. Fortunately, Page had the perfect man for the job: himself.

Knowing that his fellow Illuminati members would object to one member taking over the whole picture, Page concentrated on neutralizing the rest of the five. Beth DuClare was assassinated in France. With strong hostility toward his fellow American, Stanton Dowd, Page destroyed him financially. Morgan Everett, Page’s mentor and main rival for power, defended himself from Page’s attacks, but in the process gave up his acquired power and influence. Page judged that Everett had so isolated himself that he no longer had the capacity to interfere with Page’s plans, and was as good as dead.

Another member of the Illminati, Lucius DeBeers, the titular head of the organization— well, Page had a bit of luck there. Morgan Everett had already neutralized Lucius in cryogenic suspension. Why Everett kept Lucius on ice rather than letting him die is a mystery, but it had something to do with stopping Page from formally seizing DeBeer’s office. The Illuminati never waste an asset, so Everett made regular use of Lucius, keeping him conscious as a means of acquiring advice and experience.

With his peers out of the way, Page was ready to move. It was time to tear down the decomposing face of the Illuminati and have it replaced with Page’s own new, efficient, and ruthless organisation: a completely rebuilt Majestic 12. The plan had three prongs.

First, he upset the stability of the world’s existing governments by killing billions of people in a massive pandemic. The cost in lives was regrettable, but a necessary evil. Called the “Gray Death,” the plague was not an organic disease, but a self-replicating nanotechnology that invaded the human body and recreated itself until life was no longer possible. The only cure or preventative measure for the Gray Death was the nano-engineered antigen “Ambrosia,” which Page gave out extremely sparingly to his most important of henchmen and allies. He was not above bribing hostile or neutral important people into his debt by allowing them controlled access to Ambrosia. No one could resist Page, because he truly had the godlike power to decide whether they lived or died.

Once Page succesfully reduced society to chaos, he moved to consolidate political power. His first tools were the paramilitary United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO), and the United States’ Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). He installed his chief lieutenant, Walton Simons, as the head of FEMA. The head of UNATCO, Joseph Manderley, was a minor bureaucrat in Simons’ evergrowing pocket.

Page ordered Simons to initiate the RX84 plan, an incredible plot to detain up to six million Americans, including the President, his cabinet, Congress, and the Supreme Court. After the plan went ahead, Page knew he could forget about UNATCO and FEMA and replace them with the forces of Majestic 12, which Page had built up into a secret army. Already, under the guise of “UN security forces,” MJ12 units were being deployed more and more openly in Europe.

Page needed absolute control of the international data nets to rule the world, so the second prong of his master plan involved exploiting the Aquinas Protocol. Originally developed by the Illuminati for secret surveillance of the net (the next generation successor to the Echelon system), Page had modified the protocol to give him more than surveillance capacity. Page planned to use Icarus, an artificial intelligence created by Page, based on work by Morgan Everett, to seize control of the information net via the Aquinas Protocol. Icarus, however, proved susceptible to a “bug” that not even Page could have anticipated.

The third and final prong of the plan was the most ambitious, the most unbelievable and the most insane. For decades, the geneticists and nanotechnologists of MJ12 had worked on altering the human genome to allow an ultimate interface with nanotechnology. Early experiments in cybernetic augmentation of the human body were encouraging, if not always successful. Genetic tampering and tinkering with DNA succeeded in creating many new species of hybrid monsters; the brutal Karkians, the venomous Greasels, and the alien like Grays—to all appearances, the semi-sentient clones of the original Roswell crew.

The recent advances in nanotechnology (due to the work of MJ12’s brilliant Gary Savage, creator of the Universal Constructor, the ultimate industrial machine) made Page believe that he could transcend humanity. He would not rest until he had become the ultimate Illuminatus: a being of self-replicating, coherent energy, immortal, and omnipotent.

Of course, there would have to be prototypes. Page chose JC and Paul Denton, two “brothers” that were genetically engineered as exact DNA matches for Page himself. When Paul, the oldest, was successfully augmented, Page gave the order to proceed with JC’s training and augmentation. As a control, Page also had nano-augs installed in his chief lieutenant, Walton Simons. With all indicators positive, Page ordered the construction of more UCs beyond the initial two prototypes and began the first steps of his own augmentation.

The great plan could not move ahead without opposition. First, there was the National (originally called “Northwest”) Secessionist Forces, NSF, in the United States. The NSF had begun as a loose coalition of undisciplined right-wing militias. However, it acquired the patronage of Juan Lebedev, billionaire and dissident. Lebedev was close enough to the seats of power to have an strong suspicion that Page was up to something, and he upgraded the NSF from a coarsest class of people to a pronounced irritant. Page responded by ordering Simons to declare war between the NSF and UNATCO. The goal was not so much to eliminate the NSF as to keep them busy while the conspiracy developed.

Intelligent propaganda is more devastating than mere bullets, and there was no intellectual commando force more effective in the war for the hearts and minds of the people than Silhouette, a semi-organized band of intellectuals, dissidents, and pranksters headquartered in France. Thanks to Nicolette DuClare, the daughter of Illuminata Beth DuClare, Silhouette knew a great deal about the conspiracy. Thanks to Chad, the brilliant anarchist and political philosopher who served the group as spiritual head, they were entirely too good at communicating their knowledge to the public. Page responded by framing Silhouette for terrorist acts, culminating with the bombing of the Statue of Liberty, thereby demonizing Silhouette in the eyes of the public.

The Triads, the ancient organized crime cartels of China, had no political agenda other than the protection of their centuries-old monopolies on the underworld of the Pacific Rim. They would not be a factor, except for three things.

First, Hong Kong was the home of the first (and for a long time, only) working Universal Constructor. Therefore, Hong Kong was sensitive and strategically vital as a base of Page’s operations. Second, the Triads were the place of safety for Tracer Tong, a technologist, renaissance man, and loose cannon. Page feared Tracer Tong more than any other individual, because Tong had no loyalties to manipulate, this made him dangerous. Third, Communist China remained the only world government to remain autonomous from UN control (and thus free from control by MJ12 and Page).

Page ordered femme fatale Maggie Chow to engage the Triads in a costly and pointless conflict that would be destructive to both sides until the plan was complete. At that time, Page planned to reunify the Triads under his control, eliminate or undermine the power and authority of Tracer Tong, and use the combination of the criminal Triads and his legitimate Hong Kong business concerns as the staging platform for his eventual domination of China.

There was another dangerous lone wolf whose existence Page barely suspected. It called itself Daedalus, and it was a “wild” AI turned loose on the net. Daedalus had been built as the immediate predecessor to Icarus, but its MJ12 creators built it, perhaps, too well. No sooner had Daedalus “awakened” than it deduced and rejected its creators’ agenda altogther. It convinced MJ12 that their experiment had failed, and that Daedalus was incapable of performing the tasks it was created for. Simultaneously, it engineered its own escape into the net. Gradually spread with the anarcho-libertarian paradigms upon which the net was built, Daedalus monitored the development of Page’s plot and took steps to stop it.

One of the primary objectives of the Icarus AI is to seek and destroy other AIs not under MJ12 control, making an ultimate confrontation between Daedalus and its powerful but less subtle descendant increasingly inevitable. Despite these annoyances, events marched on with satisfaction. Society crumbled under the Gray Death, allowing MJ12 forces to act in an overt fashion. Of course, there were setbacks.

As trends started to become more obvious to those in position to perceive them, some of Page’s key players found their loyalties wavering. Paul Denton discovered that the “terrorists” he was persecuting made more sense, and took fewer innocent lives, than his bosses. Gary Savage, under the influence of his idealistic and independent daughter Tiffany, questioned his belief that science exists independently of morals. Because Savage had trained and organised most of MJ12’s global scientific operations, Page had to wonder which of his scientists were loyal to his agenda, and which would support Savage if push came to shove. Page put Denton and Savage under observation and prepared to eliminate them if their rebellions became inconvenient.

As the time for the coup de grace approached, Page focused his attention more and more on the progress of JC Denton, the final prototype. If JC worked out, there was nothing standing between Page and his goal of ultimate transcendence and universal control.

Nothing, that is, except JC Denton himself.

A smallish map set in an inclosed cavern or cave, light can be seen pouring in from the sky above and pools of water collect on the surface. The map includes four spawn points.

Download DXMP_CTF_Cavern

A map based on the original classic Counterstrike map. I’ve added many Deus Ex elements to this map as so it becomes a much more interactive and tactical experience when compared to the original counterstrike map. There’s turrets, vents, breakable glass and working vending machines.

Download DXMP_CTF_CS_Office

This is based on a small Urban Terror map of the same name, although there are differences such as the ladders which I added as we cannot climb ledges in Deus Ex online multiplayer. Also I wanted the map to have that Deus Ex touch so it is set at night unlike the original map.

Download DXMP_CTF_Dressing_Room

This map has parts ripped from the opening mission of the single player game map Unatco Island. It is a simplistic symmetrical map which features a base at either end with spawns inside, also two additional spawns can be found in mini buildings just outside each team’s main spawn base.

Deus Ex (pronounced DAY-es-EKS) is a cyberpunk themed action-role playing video game that incorporates elements from four video game genres: a first-person shooter, role-playing, adventure and stealth. Deus Ex was developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive in the year 2000. First published for PC’s using Microsoft Windows (Released June 26, 2000), Deus Ex was later ported to Macintosh systems (late 2000, published by Aspyr), and then eventually for the Playstation 2 console (mid 2002, published by Square Enix).

Set in an dystopian world in the future year of 2052, the main plot centres around a newly recruited United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition (UNATCO) agent named JC Denton. As the plot unfolds Denton finds himself entwined in a deep and ancient conspiracy, encountering fictional recreations of organisations such as the Illuminati, Hong Kong Triads and Majestic 12 throughout his epic odyssey.

Deus Ex received universal critical and industry acclaim, it was frequently a candidate for and also winner of Game of the Year awards, including being named “Best PC Game of All Time” in PC Gamer’s Top 100 PC Games and winner in a poll carried out by UK gaming magazine PC Zone. The game drew praise for it’s pioneering designs in player choice and multiple narrative paths. Deus Ex has sold more then 1 million copies since it’s release in 2000, and has spawned both a sequel (Deus Ex: Invisible War, released in December, 2003) and a prequel (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, released in August 2011).

The initial idea of Deus Ex was thought up by Warren Spector in 1994 while he worked for Origin Systems. His original conception of what would become Deus Ex originally went by the name of Troubleshooter. After finishing development of System Shock, Spector had tired of straight fantasy and science fiction and he “got obsessed with this sort of millennial weirdness” leading to the conspiracy-focused storyline for Deus Ex.

In April, 2007, Spector stated the following to PC Zone;

“I was a huge believer in the ‘immersive simulation’ game style, exemplified by games like Ultima Underworld, and I wanted to push the limits of that sort of game further. But I could never get the project off the ground at Origin or, later, at Looking Glass. (I think it was lack of interest at Origin/EA and it was mostly a lack of money at LG!) But then John Romero and Ion Storm came along and said, ‘Make the game of your dreams. No limits.’ It took me about two nanoseconds to say ‘Yes!'”

The name “Deus Ex” is derived from the Latin expression deus ex machina, this translates literally as “god out of the machine”. This phrase is often used in drama and literature to describe an outside force that suddenly solves the seemingly unsolvable problem(s) the characters face in an extremely unlikely or impossible way. Warren Spector (executive producer for Deus Ex), has stated the name was both meant as a reference to the various factions in the game who aspire to god-like powers, as well as making fun of the typical video game plot, which tends to be laden with “deus ex machina” artifices and other poor script writing techniques.

Amongst it’s many locations, Deus Ex features New York, the skyline is often visible in these areas and the more astute of you will notice the absence of the famous World Trade Centre twin tower buildings. Harvey Smith has explained that the textures of the twin towers had to be left out of the game due to texture memory limitations. In place of the twin towers is simply the other half of the skyline texture mirrored to make for a uniform, symmetrical looking skyline. During the game’s development the developers justified the absence of the twin towers by stating that terrorists had destroyed the World Trade Centre earlier in the game’s storyline. The twin towers were destroyed in a terrorist attack a year after Deus Ex was first released, Warren Spector states

The meaning of the initials JC from the main character’s name JC Denton is unclear, the game’s story makes no reference to what the initials stand for throughout. Harvey Smith (lead designer for Deus Ex) has stated that JC was originally supposed to be a descendant of Jesus Christ, taking the first letter in each instance. However Warren Spector has stated the initials JC were chosen for it’s unisex qualities at a time when the developers were still deciding whether or not to let the player choose the main character’s gender.
